Autobiography

Ian is the Office of Government Commerce Executive Director of the Better Projects Directorate. He has both developed and rolled out the Gateway process to its current status of 2000 completed reviews with a £100 Billion plus procurement value. Ian qualified as a Chemical Engineer and has previously worked in a variety of international top level roles with Esso including Refinery Management, Exploration, Chief Information Officer and Corporate Planning. He has a singular depth of experience of life at the sharp end in Construction and IT. A visiting lecturer at City Business School, Templeton College Oxford and Reims Business School, Ian is a strong believer that delivery issues are more about business change than technology.

He was awarded a CBE in 2004 for his contribution to improving delivery in government.
